Andre Simmons

Born and raised in Inglewood, California. Andre “Drekidd” Simmons found his passion for the arts late into his teens as an escape to his immediate surroundings. Drekidd has played a major role in creating two art exhibitions; the Liberation Art Show premiering during the Downtown Los Angeles Artwalk (2011), Legends Stay True solo show in the world famous Fairfax Village (2015), Black Panther 50th Anniversary Artshow in Oakland (2016), ICONIC ARTSHOW solo showing in South L.A. (2017) and Gumbo Theory solo show in Inglewood (2018).

“I find inspiration in people’s story. We all have one but it takes finding the silver linings to take control of the narrative,” he says.“ My intention is to use the energies I come into contact with and to translate it into something that looks aesthetically pleasing while hopefully helping myself and others connect the dots. My lines are typically rough and wobbled, sometimes the shading maybe incomplete and that to me is the human experience; we’re all works in progress and that’s beautiful. I love the excitement of feeling inspired, so I actively look for it in my everyday life.”
